This time of year is as thin on DVD releases as it is on theatrical releases. I’m sure the marketing gurus have deduced that everyone is too swamped with back-to-school goings-on to be throwing around entertainment dollars. Welcome to the dumping ground.
“Epic”
Just think, if you crossed “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” with “FernGully: The Last Rainforest” you would get … a pretty average family movie. Such is “Epic,” where tiny creatures in the forest are locked in a timeless battle of good vs. evil. Ponder this: if a tree falls in the forest and no one is around does it make a sound? And if a lifeless kids’ movie is released on DVD on the second-to-last week in August does anyone care?
