
Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena deliver what is basically the greatest episode of “Cops” ever with the documentary-style police thriller “End of Watch” leading off the list of DVD releases this week.
Rounding out the week is a girlie comedy, a shockingly well-cast indie and a heart-rending documentary. Enjoy.
“End of Watch”
Two young police officers in LAare marked for death after confiscating a small cache of money and firearms from the members of a notorious cartel, during a routine traffic stop. Shot documentary-style, this film follows the daily grind of these men who are partners and friends, and what happens when they meet criminal forces greater than themselves.
“For a Good Time, Call…”
Former college frenemies Lauren (Lauren Miller) and Katie (Ari Graynor) move into a fabulous Gramercy Park apartment, and in order to make ends meet, the unlikely pair start a phone sex line together.

“The Paperboy”
A reporter returns to his Florida hometown to investigate a case involving a death row inmate. The loaded cast includes Zac Efron, Nicole Kidman, Matthew McConaughey, John Cusack, and Scott Glenn.

“Searching for Sugarman”
Two South Africans set out to discover what happened to their unlikely musical hero, the mysterious 1970s rock ‘n’ roller, Rodriguez, in this enthralling documentary.
