A grand illusion edition of: New on DVD

It's a light week on the DVD front but at least the entry is the goofy, perfectly enjoyable "The Incredible Burt Wonderstone." This is one of those comedies that proves that if you put enough funny people in the movie hilarity will ensue no matter how formulaic the plot is.

"The Incredible Burt Wonderstone"

Las Vegas magicians are pretty easy comedic targets especially when given the once over by the likes of Steve Carell, Jim Carrey and Steve Buscemi. This movie is really elevated by the cast which also boasts quality supporting turns from Alan Arkin and Oliva Wilde. It also features one of the last onscreen performances of James Gandolfini, which still feels really weird to type. At any rate this movie is better than an actual magic show. It's a low bar, but at least it clears it.
